Nelson Maylone

Nelson Maylone is a professor of educational psychology at Eastern Michigan University, and director of the Woodrow Wilson Michigan Teaching Fellowship there. He has 25 years of K-12 experience in Detroit, Allen Park, West Bloomfield, Brighton, and Grosse Pointe schools (all Michigan) as a math teacher and a building administrator. Nelson was the West Bloomfield Teacher of the Year and a state Teacher of the Year finalist in 1988. Nelson has served as a NASA NEWMAST Fellow, and was a doctoral fellow at Eastern. His dissertation, The Relationship of Socioeconomic Factors and District Scores on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program Tests: An Analysis, was the Phi Delta Kappan Midwest Dissertation of the Year in 2002. Nelson is the author of numerous book chapters and articles with an assessment focus, and been a mathematics and/or classroom assessment consultant to over thirty schools.
