Andrew Schiera

Andrew J. Schiera is a doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania studying teaching, learning, and teacher education. His research interests seek to understand how students, teachers, and researchers can all be positioned as co-teachers and co-learners, conscious critics, and engaged activists towards socially just practices and purposes of education.  Prior to his doctoral studies, Mr. Schiera was a social studies educator at University City High School in Philadelphia, where he taught various social studies subjects including an Urban Education elective, and co-developed the Leaders of Change summer service learning internship.  Mr. Schiera previously earned a M.S. in Secondary Social Studies and a B.A. in American History, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
